Farewell doesn’t always mean well

When we have to say goodbye

it isn’t words that carry our emotions

for our tongues grow too numb

and our voices too frail

But we pray our last wishes

in the churchyard of silence

where our hearts beat

worryingly of tomorrow

and our sight is blurred

with silver sparkles of grief

knowing within us

that farewell doesn’t always mean well
